The comedy of Jamie Gosney springs from his general confusion with life and his irritation that he ought to know better.
Jamies no stranger to the theatre, as his career path has lurched from being a child actor in a musical double act with his father Barrie Gosney (who went on to work with Harry Hill and Al Murray); via gaining a LAMDA qualification in Stage Management & Technical Theatre; touring as sound engineer with Dolly Parton, Jackson Five and Donna Summer; and working as illusion engineer with magician Doug Henning. Following this, he was No1 Sound Engineer on a number of west end shows including Time and Les Misrables, a recording studio owner and sound system designer.
A tv producer/director friend challenged Jamie to try stand up comedy. Several open mic nights convinced him he wanted to take comedy seriously, so he enrolled on Susan Murray & Simon Foxs Stand-Up course. Since completing this he has been learning his craft and building his experience on a large number of small stages around the country.
His style is cheeky and mostly self-deprecating, although he can become entertainingly enraged about foolish public figures and pettiness.
