As a performer, Paul has taken sixteen shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including solo stand-up offerings Getting Lost in my Hometown, The Moments of Madness that Make Us, Inadequate Man, Paul Richards is the Least of Your Problems and 2017's One Man and a Box. At the fringe in 2017 Paul performed a remarkable 85 times over 23 days, covering all genres (comedy, storytelling, cabaret and theatre), a particular highlight being his Complete History of Pop Music in an Hour show, which featured our lanky host in charge of a different guest choir every night, faced with the challenge of singing 42 songs in 60 minutes. The show was a rousing success, playing to packed rooms and will return next year.
50 Ways to Leave Your Drummer; Pauls bizarre film/total and utter breakdown, in which he spent 18 months trying to get sacked by 50 bands, premiered at the Arts Picturehouse, Cambridge in November 2015. Those to have fired Paul for the movie include Jethro Tulls Ian Anderson, John Otway, Frank Turner, Heaven 17, Nik Kershaw and comedian Arthur Smith. Paul then turned the concept into a late-night stage-show, which ran for 22 nights at the Banshee Labyrinth during the 2016 fringe.
